Biden Tries To Fight A Reporter?
What did Biden mean when he said this?
President Joe Biden expressed confidence in his physical ability, even jokingly suggesting he could “handle” reporters. In an interview with Time magazine at the White House, Biden addressed concerns about whether he could manage the responsibilities of the presidency as an 85-year-old if he were to win a second term.
When asked if he could still do the job despite his old age, Biden responded, “I can do it better than anybody you know. You’re looking at me, I can take you too,” Biden strangely said while looking at Wash. bureau chief Massimo Calabresi and Chief editor Sam Jacobs.
Biden emphasized that he never considered his age a barrier to running for re-election and had a message for those doubting his capabilities. “Watch me,” he urged. “show me a president that has accomplished as much as I have in my first three years. When you guys wrote in Time magazine I could not get any of it done. When you said there isn’t any way he can get a trillion or more dollar bill done for infrastructure, or $368 billion for fixing the environment”.
He highlighted his accomplishments, recalling his trip to South Korea and the significant private-sector investments secured during his term.
Time magazine fact-checked his claims, noting the White House announced an $866 billion private-sector investment in May, not specifically during Biden’s trip to South Korea in 2022. The investments were also spread across various initiatives, including clean energy and manufacturing, not limited to the chips industry.
Throughout his presidency, Biden’s age and mental sharpness have been under scrutiny. Concerns intensified following a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur earlier this year regarding Biden’s handling of classified documents. The report disclosed that Biden had trouble recalling key details from his time as vice president, including the year of his son Beau’s death. However, Hur concluded that charges should not be brought against Biden due to his “sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory” perception.
As Biden approaches his 82nd birthday in November, he remains the oldest president in U.S. history. His likely opponent in the upcoming election, former President Donald Trump, is also advancing in age and will turn 78 this month.
