Ocasio-Cortez In Relationship With Top GOP Rep?
Last week, Representative Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) criticized the hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” for their remarks, which he deemed “immature.” The hosts had made a joke about a “possible romantic relationship’ between Gaetz and Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
According to The Hill, host Greg Gutfeld and others on “The Five” made these comments following the introduction of a bipartisan bill by Representatives Matt Gaetz and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, among others, which aimed to prohibit members of Congress and their families from engaging in stock trading while in office.
“I smell a romantic comedy,” Gutfeld joked.
He then said, “They come together to fight one of the most corrupt practices in politics, and they fall in love. They can’t help themselves. She’s got a French poodle. He’s got a strange hairline. But somehow they’re going to make it work.”
On an episode of his podcast “Firebrand” aired on Tuesday, Representative Matt Gaetz expressed that he believes members of Congress should be able to collaborate on policies aimed at promoting greater honesty and ethics in Congress, without being subjected to what he regards as “immature” and “childish” comments, such as those made by the hosts of “The Five”.
“It does seem a little childish to me that the media always has to oversexualize everything that AOC is involved with. They wouldn’t do that to men,” Gaetz stated.
During Greg Gutfeld’s comments, Jesse Watters, who is also a host on “The Five”, interrupted to point out that Matt Gaetz is married and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is engaged.
Matt Gaetz responded by expressing gratitude to Jesse Watters for acknowledging that he is happily married, and shared that Watters and his wife had been present during his third date with his now-wife.
