BREAKING: Police Swarm Trump Tower

City police have reported that the heavy police presence outside Trump Tower in Chicago, prompted by a firearm scare on Wednesday afternoon, has now been resolved.

In transcript provided by Newsweek, “This incident has concluded and no injuries have been reported. One individual has been taken to an area hospital for evaluation,” Chicago police said in a statement.

According to a report earlier today by WFLD in Chicago, the police had set up a perimeter and blocked off sections of the roadway around Trump Tower on the northeast side of the city.

“We don’t have any word about what may have prompted that response, but if you’re walking or driving, expect possible closures in that area,” one reporter explained.

Reporters were directed to a tweet by the Chicago Police Department, which stated that SWAT officers were present at the 400 block of N. Wabash for an incident related to domestic affairs. The police believe it to be an isolated incident and assured the public that there was no danger to them. The media staging area was designated at Grand/Wabash and the police said that they would provide updates as soon as possible.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, two law enforcement sources disclosed that a woman entered the building around 11:25 a.m. with a rifle in hand. The incident was deemed to be related to domestic affairs and there was no immediate indication of it being associated with terrorism.

Police radio communication revealed officers were dispatched to the 27th floor of the building, where the suspect had reportedly gone after stating that she was “tired of being abused by her husband.”
