Trump’s Plan To Turn Blue State Red

Former President Donald Trump expressed confidence in winning the traditionally Democratic state of New Jersey in the upcoming presidential election.

Despite facing significant defeats in the state in the previous two elections, Trump highlighted the perceived shortcomings of the Biden Administration’s impact on New Jersey and announced that Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) would lead his campaign efforts there.

Trump attributed his optimism to what he described as the Biden Administration’s negative influence on the Garden State, emphasizing issues such as open borders, escalating crime rates, high taxes, excessive regulations, disrespect for the military and veterans, soaring inflation, and a struggling economy.

Despite New Jersey’s historical Democratic leanings and its consistent support for Democratic candidates in recent presidential elections, Trump asserted that his team would actively campaign in the state, organizing rallies and events to secure victory.

In the 2016 election, Trump lost New Jersey to Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by a 14-point margin. In the 2020 election, after four years of his presidency, he faced an even larger defeat, losing the state to President Joe Biden by a 16-point margin. Trump acknowledged the historical trend of New Jersey supporting Democratic candidates, with the state not backing a Republican presidential candidate since 1988 when it supported the late President George H.W. Bush. Despite these challenges, Trump remained optimistic about his chances of winning New Jersey in the upcoming election.
