Is Fox News The New CNN?

According to former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Fox News has been shifting towards the center or even left-leaning for quite some time now, well before Tucker Carlson’s dismissal. However, Giuliani notes that the network’s change was temporarily halted after former President Donald Trump’s triumph in 2016.

In transcript provided by Newsmax, Giuliani explained, “I think they thought Trump was going to lose, and I think they wanted Trump to lose. The idea that they helped Trump that much is not really as accurate as some people think. First of all, the president himself feels differently about it.”

Giuliani highlighted that during the initial Fox News debate of the 2016 election cycle, Megyn Kelly (who has since left the network) directed a question towards Trump, which consisted of 19 parts and implied that he was the most terrible womanizer in history. Although Giuliani praises Kelly as a talented journalist, he believes that the query was a “loaded” one, deliberately designed to discredit Trump.

Giuliani also mentioned that with regards to Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News, it was revealed that Carlson had expressed the belief that he was more significant than the network. Giuliani was referring to remarks made by Carlson during an appearance on Sky News Australia, which were subsequently made public.

“I think Fox thinks they’re bigger than the world,” Giuliani responded.

In addition to his earlier comments, Giuliani asserted on Wednesday that Fox News has been largely rudderless since the departure of former chairman Roger Ailes, and has been “drifting” as a result.

In 2016, a former anchor at Fox News, Gretchen Carlson, filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the then-chairman and CEO of the network, Roger Ailes. As a result, Ailes resigned from his positions at Fox News.

Giuliani claimed that without Ailes, Fox News has lost its sense of direction and identity, and has been deceiving its audience into believing that it is a right-wing network. According to him, this is not the case, and the network caters significantly to the interests of the cocktail party crowd.

Giuliani further expressed his disappointment with Fox News, revealing that the network employs underhanded tactics against its own staff. He stated that such tactics, which he referred to as “dirty tricks,” left him feeling somewhat disgusted.
