Media Covering Up For Kamala
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has criticized the media for failing to subject Vice President Kamala Harris to the rigorous scrutiny typically applied to a presidential candidate since she was promoted to the top of the Democratic ticket two weeks ago. With President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race, Harris has been elevated as the Democratic nominee, yet she has largely avoided direct interviews and has been minimally questioned by journalists.
During a recent appearance on CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” Cotton highlighted the lack of media engagement with Harris, emphasizing that she has not participated in any sit-down interviews or answered substantive questions. He expressed concern that Harris’s lack of transparency and interaction with the press is being overlooked, contrasting this with the intense scrutiny faced by past nominees.
Cotton noted that despite a CBS News-YouGov poll indicating a tightening race between Harris and former President Donald Trump, Harris’s absence from the media spotlight has been conspicuous. He criticized her for a recent appearance at Andrews Air Force Base, where he felt her comments were vague and uninformative, describing them as “incomprehensible word salad.”
The Arkansas senator argued that once Harris is finally subjected to in-depth questioning, her policy positions and radical views will become clearer to the American public. He believes this will work to Trump’s advantage, as voters will scrutinize Harris’s positions more closely as the campaign progresses.
Cotton also addressed questions about Trump’s recent comments on Harris’s race, steering the discussion back to the importance of focusing on policy differences rather than personal attributes. He stressed that the media should hold Harris to the same standards as other presidential nominees in history, such as Trump in 2016 and Barack Obama in 2008, who faced extensive questioning during their campaigns.
“For two weeks, Kamala Harris has been evading the press,” Cotton asserted. “She can’t continue to avoid tough questions for the remaining 13 weeks of the campaign.”
Term limits? Justices are only appointed for one term. That term ends with their resignation or death. It frees them from political considerations or populists whims. They are left free to adhere to the Constitution. What is being suggested amounts to imposing time or age limits. But what is really in danger from this proposal is the balance of power between the three branches of our government. This horrible attack was first presented by Harris on behalf of Biden. But it as the aroma of Barack Obama all over it.
If she were to be elected President, would Harris nominate Obama to the Supreme Court?
