Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to mock Trump and declined to delve into discussions about former President’s “cognitive disorders” during a recent interview. When MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow brought up Trump’s attempt to criticize Pelosi’s response to the events of January 6, Pelosi then ironically found herself momentarily confused with President Biden instead of Trump.
Pelosi dismissed the focus on Trump’s cognitive health, stating, “I’m not going to spend too much time on Donald Trump’s cognitive disorders.” She clarified that it was Trump who falsely accused Nikki Haley, not Pelosi, of hindering the National Guard’s response on January 6. Pelosi emphasized that the authority to deploy the National Guard lies with the president, not Congress.
Then Pelosi shot herself in the foot and had a mental episode of her own and accidentally called Trump “Joe [Biden]” stating, “He tried to say that Nikki Haley did not allow the National Guard to come, but it was Nancy Pelosi. It was nobody. It was Joe – it was Donald Trump.“
Trump, during a speech in New Hampshire, also exhibited confusion between Haley and Pelosi. He blamed Haley, his former UN ambassador, for the security lapse at Capitol Hill on January 6, contradicting his previous blame on Pelosi.
Despite the Trump-centric conversation, Pelosi took the opportunity to praise President Biden and Vice President Harris, highlighting their ticket and campaign team as they gear up for the upcoming election year. She criticized Trump’s tendency to lie and emphasized the importance of focusing on mobilizing voters rather than dwelling on Trump’s dysfunction.
While Trump celebrated his projected win in New Hampshire’s GOP primary, Haley cautioned against premature declarations of victory, asserting that the race was “far from over.” She reminded observers that New Hampshire is the first state in the nation to hold primaries, emphasizing that the political landscape could still undergo significant shifts.
