Squad Member Removed From Congress?

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, is set to introduce a resolution on Tuesday to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan.

According to Fox, she is accusing Tlaib, a member of the progressive “Squad,” of engaging in “antisemitic activity” and “sympathizing with terrorist organizations.” According to Greene, the Democratic Party has failed to hold Tlaib accountable for her actions, and she believes it’s important to highlight numerous instances of this behavior, which she asserts is not isolated.

One of the key points of contention is Tlaib’s involvement in leading a pro-Palestinian protest on Capitol Hill last week. During this protest, she blamed Israel for a hospital bombing in Gaza, a claim that was not retracted even when various intelligence agencies suggested that the incident was caused by a misfired Hamas rocket. Greene characterizes this protest as an “insurrection” in her resolution.

Additionally, Greene’s resolution references Tlaib’s endorsement of a slogan associated with terror groups and the Palestine Liberation Organization. It also recalls Tlaib’s previous remarks where she referred to Israel as “an apartheid government.” Notably, Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American member of Congress.

When asked about the support from GOP members for her censure resolution, Greene expressed confidence that every Republican would vote in favor of it, and she anticipated that it would be surprising if the Democrats did not vote for it. Furthermore, Greene called for an investigation into Tlaib’s support of the recent cease-fire protest by multiple House panels, including the House Ethics investigation, the House Administration Committee, and possibly the Department of Justice and FBI.

As of now, Rep. Tlaib’s office has not provided a response to these allegations.
