Cheney Orders Court To Bury Trump

Cheney is still on her warpath to destroy Trump.

Former Representative Liz Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming, emphasized the urgency of ensuring that former President Trump faces trial for his alleged interference in federal elections before voters cast their ballots for the next president in November. Speaking at an event at Drake University in Iowa, Cheney urged the Supreme Court not to view Trump’s appeal as merely a delay tactic.

Cheney underscored the principle that the justice system must be capable of holding a president accountable for attempting to overturn an election and seize power before the subsequent election cycle. She stressed that it would be unacceptable for such a significant case to remain unresolved while the nation prepares for another presidential election.

Trump’s legal team has consistently sought delays in the four criminal cases against him, citing various reasons, especially given the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Of these cases, the federal election interference allegations stand out as particularly critical to address before November.

Currently, Trump’s federal election interference case is on hold pending the Supreme Court’s ruling on his claim of immunity from prosecution for actions taken during his presidency. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case on April 25.

Drawing from her experience as vice chair of the House committee that investigated Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, Cheney highlighted that Trump possesses all the evidence from both the special counsel investigation and the Jan. 6 select committee. She suggested that Trump’s efforts to delay the trial indicate his awareness of the damaging nature of the evidence against him.

Cheney expressed concerns that Trump’s insistence on presidential immunity is merely a tactic to prolong the legal process. She urged the Supreme Court to recognize this tactic and emphasized that further delays would effectively suppress crucial evidence that the American people have a right to see.

In response to Cheney’s remarks, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, criticized her stance, accusing her of advocating for the manipulation of the justice system for political purposes and dismissing her comments as symptomatic of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Cheney’s call for expeditious legal proceedings underscores the significance of ensuring accountability and transparency in the electoral process, particularly concerning allegations of election interference at the highest levels of government.
