Does Biden Think He's Above The Law?

Republicans Chicken Out Of Impeachment?

It now appears as though some House Republicans are trying to back out of the impeachment of President Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

According to The Hill, while it appears that the majority of House Republicans still want to impeach Mayorkas, some are starting to think that it isn’t the appropriate time to do so.

Republican Rep. Michael McCaul talked about how the Democrats tried to impeach Trump and said, “We made the argument that impeachment was rushed — the second impeachment — and I think that’s not who we are as a party.”

McCaul then talked about Mayorkas and said, “We need to have hearings on this and we need to gather evidence and facts and, look, do I think the guy has done a terrible job? Yes. Do I think he’s been derelict in his responsibilities? Yes. But we need to get all this together, and do it in a methodical way.”

Some Republicans on the other hand have only doubled down on impeaching Mayorkas because of just how bad the border has gotten under his watch.

Republican Rep. Pat Fallon already filed impeachment and Rep. Andy Biggs doubled down and noted that he was the first Republican to talk about impeachment.

Biggs wrote, “I was the first Member of Congress to introduce impeachment articles against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in 2021. I will reintroduce these articles with even more justification very soon.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has said he is in support of impeachment but he will make sure it’s done properly, “House Republicans will investigate every order, every action. And every failure will determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry.”
