Who Has A Better Chance Of Beating Biden In 2024?

Pelosi Gives Schiff Unlimited Power

Nancy Pelosi, the former House Speaker from California, publicly expressed her support for Rep. Adam Schiff, also from California, as a candidate for the Senate race in 2024. However, there are indications that behind closed doors, Pelosi, a prominent Democrat, is actively involved in ensuring Schiff’s success in becoming California’s next senator.

According to the Washington Examiner, Nancy Pelosi’s oldest daughter, Nancy Corinne Prowda, is providing assistance to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) as she recovers from shingles and manages her Senate responsibilities. While Sen. Feinstein continues her tenure in office, the three representatives vying for her seat are primarily focused on their campaigns. This circumstance works in favor of Pelosi’s preferred candidate.

Despite being 89 years old and having been absent from the Senate for several months due to her illness, Sen. Dianne Feinstein has resumed her duties. Despite some Democrats urging her to step down, the prominent California politician has chosen to continue her role in the Senate.

According to the report, the assistance provided by the Pelosi family to Sen. Feinstein is attributed to the longstanding and amicable relationship between Feinstein and the Pelosis. However, it is also suggested that aiding Feinstein in maintaining her Senate duties could potentially benefit Schiff’s chances in the race for her seat.

A confidant of the Pelosi family mentioned that the situation is delicate and politically sensitive because they desire Sen. Feinstein to remain in her position for as long as possible. The underlying political strategy is that if Feinstein prolongs her tenure, it could also benefit Schiff in some way.

If Sen. Feinstein were to resign from her Senate position before her term ends in January 2025, it would be the responsibility of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) to appoint a replacement. Newsom has made a commitment to appoint a black woman if given the chance. As of now, the only declared candidate for the Senate race who meets that criterion is Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA).

Earlier this year, Sen. Feinstein announced that she would not be pursuing another term, which has positioned Schiff as the frontrunner for the Senate seat. However, if Rep. Barbara Lee were to be appointed to the seat by Gov. Newsom, it could potentially undermine Schiff’s prospects for securing the position.
