Trump’s 2024 Run Canceled?
In a shocking turn of events, The Koch political machine which is regarded as the largest and most powerful donor group that funds the Republican Party is now saying that they will not support former President Donald Trump whatsoever in the 2024 presidential election.
According to Time, the Koch group released a memo to their staffers and activists telling them that the group has no plans of being a passive player in Republican politics when it comes to the presidential election. While the memo did not mention Trump even once, it was clear that they are saying that they will not support Trump at all.
Americans for Prosperity CEO Emily Seidel explained, “Our country must move past the current political situation—we’ve got to turn the page on the past several years. If we want to elect better people, we need better candidates. And if we want better candidates, we’ve got to get involved in elections earlier and in more primaries.”
Americans for Prosperity is one of the largest branches of the Koch group and it is clear that they are denouncing Donald Trump which will cause massive issues moving forward.
Many top members in the Koch group had mixed feelings about Donald Trump for a number of key reasons. While the 2016 election went over with a few minor speed bumps, the 2020 Jan 6th Capitol riot was the last straw for them.
Last year alone the Koch group was invested in 457 races and they spent millions of dollars to help get several Republicans elected into office.
Seidel doubled down against Trump in her new memo to staff and explained, “The loudest voice in each political party sets the tone for the entire election. In a presidential year, that’s the presidential candidate. And to write a new chapter for our country, we need to turn the page on the past. So the best thing for the country would be to have a president in 2025 who represents a new chapter.”
