A new poll by Iowa State University and Civiqs found that former President Donald Trump is leading the Republican presidential field in Iowa, with 51% of the support of likely caucusgoers. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is in second place with 14%.
The poll surveyed 434 likely Iowa caucusgoers and was conducted from August 20-21. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.6 percentage points.
The poll also found that Trump is the most popular candidate among all Republican voters in Iowa, with 62% saying they have a favorable view of him. DeSantis is second with 42%, followed by former Vice President Mike Pence with 38%.
The poll’s findings suggest that Trump is the clear frontrunner for the Republican nomination in Iowa. However, the race is still early and things could change between now and the caucuses in February.
