Video: Biden Snaps On Reporter
During a visit to a wind farm plant in New Mexico, President Joe Biden engaged with reporters on Wednesday, responding to inquiries about his alleged involvement in his son’s business activities. Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy posed a question about claims that Biden had participated in numerous speakerphone conversations with his son’s business associates over the years. Biden lashed out swiftly dismissed the question, branding it as lacking merit.
According to Newsweek, the Republican Party has been actively pursuing investigations into potential connections between Biden and his son’s business dealings. The House Oversight Committee launched an inquiry into the matter in January, following the GOP’s success in securing control over the second chamber of Congress during the prior year’s midterm elections. Despite ongoing scrutiny, Biden has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and the White House has maintained that he was not engaged in business ventures alongside his son.
During the interaction, Doocy referenced recent testimony from Devon Archer, a former business associate of Biden’s son. Archer’s closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee on July 31 revealed that Hunter had placed his father on speakerphone during business meetings approximately 20 times over a span of ten years. The intention behind this action was reportedly to emphasize Hunter’s connections and to serve as a defensive measure. Archer did acknowledge that these conversations did not pertain to commercial business matters.
Additionally, Archer recounted instances where Joe Biden had dined with Hunter and foreign business associates, resulting in financial transactions involving Biden-associated entities. Notably, Archer’s testimony suggested that the conversations between Joe Biden and his son’s business partners were not primarily focused on business dealings.
One notable text message sent by Hunter to Archer in March 2019 read, “the powerful are targets.” This message followed a discussion about why the Biden family had not intervened when Archer faced a Department of Justice investigation for defrauding a Native American tribe. Despite these details emerging, CNN’s Zachary Cohen pointed out that Archer’s testimony did not provide the conclusive evidence that Republicans had anticipated. Instead, it underscored Hunter’s efforts to present himself as a conduit to his father’s influence.
President Biden’s encounter with Doocy served as a platform for him to rebut allegations and reiterate his stance on the matter. The ongoing investigations and debates surrounding the Biden family’s business associations continue to be a subject of interest and scrutiny.
