VIDEO: Schiff Says Trump Stole Money For What?
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) shared his thoughts on the recent report concerning 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump’s use of $40 million in campaign funds for legal fees. Speaking on Inside with Jen Psaki Sunday, Schiff expressed his concern over this staggering amount and suggested that Trump’s presidential bid might be strategically linked to avoiding legal troubles.
According to the Washington Examiner, he Department of Justice had recently brought forth new federal charges, adding to an existing indictment of 40 charges against Trump. These charges pertain to the mishandling of classified documents and the alleged destruction of security footage at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
Schiff asserted that Trump’s substantial spending on legal battles could be driven by his hope to secure the presidency as a means of resolving his legal issues. He appeared critical of Trump’s willingness to use campaign contributions to support those who remain loyal to him.
The Save America PAC, launched in November 2020 after Trump’s election loss, has spent a significant $56 million on legal costs until the second quarter of 2023.
Apart from the classified documents case, special counsel Jack Smith is also conducting a separate investigation into Trump’s actions following his 2020 election defeat, with potential charges being considered in that matter.
According to Schiff, the considerable funds allocated to Trump’s legal fight seem to serve the purpose of aligning narratives and coaching witnesses to selectively forget certain details, which he views as problematic from a justice standpoint.
Meanwhile, Schiff’s Senate campaign revealed an impressive cash-on-hand balance of $29,800,863.87 at the end of the second quarter, making it higher than his two opponents, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), as well as individual contributions received by President Joe Biden and the Democratic National Committee during the same period.
Schiff is currently in a competitive race for California’s open Senate seat, aiming to replace outgoing Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA), who announced her retirement.
