Trump Overturns Ban Preventing ICE Vehicle Stops, Is This Good?

2 Trump Officials To Lead New Probe

The Trump White House has launched an aggressive investigation into leaked information involving reported security concerns surrounding the president’s new Air Force One aircraft, with Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and FBI Director Kash Patel personally overseeing the effort. The inquiry underscores the administration’s determination to identify the source of what officials describe as unauthorized disclosures involving presidential security.

According to multiple reports, investigators asked several government officials to surrender their cellphones as part of the investigation. Officials who traveled with President Donald Trump or helped coordinate his recent trip to the NATO summit in Turkey were also questioned. Personnel from multiple federal agencies were reportedly included in the inquiry.

Not every official who was asked to turn over a device complied with the request.

FBI Director Kash Patel Takes a Hands-On Role

CNN, citing sources familiar with the investigation, reported that Patel changed his travel plans to Chicago and instead headed to the White House on Friday to personally direct the investigation.

According to the report, Patel spent roughly seven hours working from an office next to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. Together, they reportedly coordinated what one source described as a “war room” focused on tracking down the source of the leaks.

The administration has not publicly identified anyone responsible for releasing the information.

Justice Department Targets Leak Investigation

The investigation became public after reports revealed that the Justice Department issued subpoenas to four New York Times journalists who published stories about security concerns involving the Qatari-donated Air Force One.

According to the newspaper, federal prosecutors sought testimony from the reporters before a federal grand jury in Manhattan. The Times also reported that some of the subpoenas were personally delivered to the journalists at their homes.

The legal battle is expected to draw significant attention as it raises questions about national security, confidential government information, and protections afforded to members of the press.

White House: Leaks Threaten National Security

A White House official defended the administration’s response, telling Newsmax that unauthorized leaks involving presidential travel pose a serious security risk.

“Leaks that jeopardize the safety of the president, his staff, and the traveling press pool are dangerous and a threat to national security. The White House takes these leaks seriously and will do everything legally to ensure the individual or individuals are caught and it does not happen again.”

The administration has repeatedly argued that protecting sensitive information is essential to ensuring the safety of the president and those who travel with him.

Why Trump Switched Air Force One Aircraft

President Trump traveled to the NATO summit in Turkey aboard the Qatari-donated Air Force One, an aircraft valued at approximately $400 million. However, updated security assessments reportedly prompted officials to recommend that he return on the older presidential aircraft.

Following the summit, Trump downplayed reports about security concerns, telling reporters that the new plane would visit several U.S. military bases in Europe so service members could see what he described as a “truly magnificent” aircraft.

According to CNN, security officials reassessed the situation while Trump was overseas. Susie Wiles reportedly informed the president that the older Air Force One offered stronger protection because it had been specifically designed and equipped for presidential travel during overseas missions.

Although the Qatari-donated aircraft had undergone rapid upgrades that included additional defensive capabilities, officials reportedly determined it still did not provide the same level of protection as the long-serving presidential jet.

After landing at a secure U.S. military installation in the United Kingdom, Trump reportedly transferred back to the newer aircraft for the final leg of his trip to Washington, D.C.

Investigation Continues

Federal investigators continue working to determine who leaked information related to the president’s travel security. The outcome of the investigation is expected to fuel continued debate over national security, government transparency, and the balance between protecting classified information and preserving press freedoms.

With the Justice Department’s investigation now underway and subpoenas already issued, the controversy surrounding the Air Force One leaks appears far from over.
