Kid Rock Makes New GOP Endorsement
Detroit-born musician and outspoken conservative Kid Rock has officially endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate John James, delivering a high-profile boost to the GOP race in one of America’s most closely watched battleground states.
The endorsement was announced on Super Bowl Sunday in a campaign press release, just ahead of Kid Rock’s scheduled appearance at the Turning Point USA All-American Halftime Show during Super Bowl weekend—an event closely followed by conservative voters nationwide.
“As our next governor of Michigan, I know you will bring many victories to our GREAT STATE!” Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, said in a statement shared with Newsmax.
James’ campaign described the endorsement as a clear sign of growing momentum behind the Republican contender, particularly among voters frustrated with years of left-wing policies in Lansing. Since 2018, James has consistently aligned himself with President Donald Trump, earning him credibility with conservatives who value loyalty, clarity, and strong leadership.
Both James and Kid Rock share deep roots in Detroit and have spoken openly about the need to restore Michigan’s manufacturing base, protect blue-collar jobs, and preserve the state’s cultural identity. They also stressed the importance of new leadership after years of policies many conservatives say have driven jobs and families out of the state.
“Kid Rock is someone I’m proud to call a friend,” James said. “We’re united by our commitment to Detroit, the state of Michigan, and our country.”
James said he was grateful for the endorsement and called Kid Rock a proud, freedom-minded patriot, adding that he is eager to work with people across Michigan to move the state forward.
According to campaign officials, James continues to build strong support among working-class voters, veterans, small-business owners, and conservatives—key voting blocs as Michigan remains a decisive political battleground ahead of the next election cycle.
Supporters point to James’ consistent record of standing with President Trump at a time when many politicians backed away, ran against him, or chose silence. That steadfast approach, they argue, has helped position James as the leading Republican contender for governor and a rising figure in national conservative politics.
With endorsements from influential voices and growing grassroots support, the Michigan governor’s race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched contests in the country.
