Trump Says Federal Elections Need REAL ID, You Agree?

Trump Breaks Silence On Missing Person

President Donald Trump commented Tuesday on the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, calling the case a “very unusual situation” and saying federal authorities are prepared to assist.

Trump made the remarks in the Oval Office after signing legislation to end a partial government shutdown. He said the situation was serious and deserved full attention from law enforcement.

“I think it’s a terrible thing,” Trump told reporters. “I’ve always gotten along very well with Savannah. It’s a very unusual situation, and we’re going to find out what happened.”

When asked whether additional federal agents could be sent to assist local authorities, Trump said he would support that effort if necessary. The president also said he plans to personally contact Savannah Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing over the weekend after she failed to appear at church Sunday morning near her home outside Tucson, Arizona.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Guthrie was last seen Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. after family members dropped her off at home following dinner.

Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters that investigators believe Guthrie may have been taken from her home against her will, describing the case as a possible abduction. Authorities have not confirmed whether any demands have been made.

Concern grew Sunday morning when Guthrie did not arrive for church services. A church member contacted her family, who searched the home before notifying police.

The sheriff’s department confirmed that the FBI is assisting in the investigation, while Customs and Border Protection helped during the initial search. Officials emphasized that Guthrie does not suffer from dementia and is fully mentally alert.

However, authorities noted that she has physical limitations, cannot walk long distances on her own, and relies on daily medication that is critical to her health.

Nancy Guthrie is described as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. Anyone with information related to her disappearance is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.

Savannah Guthrie, who has served as a lead anchor on Today since 2012, has been absent from the program since the incident. She shared a message on social media thanking supporters for their prayers and asking the public to continue praying for her mother’s safe return.

As the search continues, NBC Sports announced that Guthrie will not participate in its upcoming coverage of the Winter Olympics in Italy, where she had been scheduled to co-host the opening ceremony.

“Savannah will be focusing on her family during this difficult time,” a network spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with her and the entire Guthrie family.”
