Trump Calls Out Democrats Again
President Donald Trump sharply criticized Democratic leaders over the weekend, arguing that their policies have weakened public safety and put law-abiding Americans at risk.
In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump accused Democrats of being “soft on crime,” saying their approach favors criminals while leaving families and communities vulnerable.
Trump wrote that protecting violent offenders instead of enforcing the law is not consistent with American values, emphasizing that public safety must always come first.
The president has been especially critical of Democrat-run cities in blue states such as California, Minnesota, New York, and Illinois. He argues that these cities have allowed prolonged unrest while interfering with federal immigration enforcement efforts.
According to Trump, local officials in these jurisdictions have repeatedly failed to control protests that escalate into riots, damaging businesses, neighborhoods, and public property.
Trump also made clear that the federal government will no longer automatically step in when state and local leaders refuse to do their jobs.
In a separate statement, Trump said he instructed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem that federal authorities should not intervene in protests or riots in Democrat-led cities unless those governments formally request assistance.
Trump emphasized that state and local governments are responsible for protecting their own property, infrastructure, and residents.
He added that safeguarding federal buildings, parks, and personnel remains a federal duty, but stressed that Washington should not be expected to replace local leadership.
Referencing unrest near the end of the Biden administration, Trump argued that weak enforcement policies emboldened violent actors and created long-term instability in many major cities.
The president concluded by reiterating that restoring law and order starts at the local level—and that accountability matters when communities are put at risk.
