Trump Reveals When Rebate Checks Could Be Released
President Donald Trump is doubling down on his promise to put more money back into the pockets of hardworking Americans, unveiling a bold new proposal to send tariff rebate checks to middle-income families by mid-2026.
During a meeting in the Oval Office with the 2026 FIFA World Cup task force, Trump highlighted how strong trade policies, historic tariff revenue, and his commitment to rebuilding American industry are creating the foundation for direct financial relief.
Trump: “We Have Thousands of Dollars Ready for Middle-Class Families”
Trump said the U.S. has generated extraordinary tariff revenue that can now be used to pay down debt and support American households—especially those hit hardest by Biden-era inflation.
“We have thousands of dollars available for moderate- and middle-income Americans,” Trump said. “Without tariffs, this country would be in serious trouble. We’ve protected our workers, rebuilt our industries, and we’re bringing critical manufacturing back home.”
He pointed to the American chip industry as a prime example, noting that U.S. companies are finally returning after years of being undercut by foreign competitors.
Tariff Revenues Hit Record Levels Under Trump
New numbers from the Treasury Department show the federal government collected $195 billion in tariff revenue as of September 30—a massive 153% increase from the $77 billion collected in fiscal 2024.
Even more striking: July alone brought in nearly $30 billion.
This surge follows Trump’s major overhaul of the global trading landscape, including a 10% universal tariff on all imports and additional targeted duties designed to shield American workers from unfair foreign practices.
Trump Pushes Back on Critics: “Biden Caused the Affordability Crisis”
While critics continue to blame tariffs for higher prices, Trump says the real cause of America’s affordability problems was runaway Biden inflation, which devastated seniors, families, and small businesses.
To help ease grocery costs, the Trump administration rolled back tariffs on more than 200 everyday food items—including coffee, beef, bananas, orange juice, and other essential products—providing immediate relief for families feeling the squeeze.
Treasury Secretary Responds: “Everything Is on the Table”
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Fox News that he has not yet reviewed the tariff-rebate plan directly with Trump, adding that the administration may need legislation if the goal is to send $2,000-plus checks to Americans.
Still, Bessent emphasized that Trump is focused on practical, meaningful solutions.
“President Trump is all about solutions,” Bessent said. “Thanks to his policies—no tax on tips, relief for overtime workers, and strong Social Security protections—we’re going to see a major jump in refunds and real incomes.”
Bottom Line for American Families
Under Trump’s leadership, the U.S. is seeing:
✔ Higher real incomes
✔ Record tariff revenue from foreign producers
✔ Lower costs on key groceries
✔ Manufacturing jobs returning home
✔ A potential direct payment to the middle class in 2026
The message is clear: America First economics is working, and middle-class families are finally seeing the benefits.
