GOP To Lower Healthcare Costs
Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is renewing calls to bring down America’s soaring healthcare costs, warning that seniors and middle-class families are being priced out of basic medical care.
In a Sunday interview on Fox News Sunday, Scott said what many Americans over 50 already know too well: “Obamacare has been a disaster.”
Premiums are higher, deductibles are crushing families, and insurance companies have grown even richer under the Democrat-backed system.
Scott argued that real reform starts with putting patients — not bureaucrats — in control.
“Consumers should be able to act like consumers,” he said. “That’s how every other industry lowers costs. Healthcare should be no different.”
He stressed that preexisting conditions must be protected, but the current system is nowhere near what Americans were promised.
“We can drive down prices by giving people more options, more transparency, and more control,” Scott explained. “We do not need to keep handing out taxpayer money to insurance companies.”
Scott warned that Democrats have spent years masking the true cost of healthcare through massive subsidies and temporary COVID programs, all of which pushed premiums even higher.
“This entire healthcare mess was caused by Democrats,” he said plainly.
“They forced Obamacare through. They pushed the subsidies. And now they’re finally admitting affordability is a problem.”
Scott urged Congress to act quickly and pass legislation that:
- Lowers insurance premiums
- Cuts government waste
- Restores real competition
- Protects seniors on fixed incomes
The senator added that inflation is making the healthcare crisis even worse. Balancing the budget and controlling federal spending, he said, are essential steps toward lowering medical costs for families and retirees.
For millions of Americans approaching retirement age, Scott’s message is clear:
Healthcare can be affordable again — but only if Washington reverses the failures of Obamacare and puts patients first.
