Trump Approval Rating Tanks?
President Donald Trump’s approval rating has slipped in a new survey, but the story the media won’t tell you is where he continues to dominate: border security, law and order, and conservative values.
Poll Shows Decline, But GOP Base Holds Firm
A Marquette University Law School poll released Wednesday showed Trump’s approval at 43%, down from 48% earlier this year, with 57% disapproving. The liberal media is quick to highlight this, but what they ignore is the massive Republican loyalty behind him.
Among GOP voters, 81% still back Trump’s leadership, proving his base remains strong. Independent approval dipped to 27%, while Democrats, as usual, overwhelmingly oppose him.
Trump Scores Big on Border Security and Kirk Tragedy Response
Despite media spin, the poll shows Trump leading where it matters most.
- 55% approve of his border security policies, long a winning issue for him.
- 53% praised his response following the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10.
These numbers show Trump’s America First message still resonates with voters concerned about safety and sovereignty.
Media Ignores Key Context
Other polls mirror these findings. A New York Times/Siena survey and a YouGov/Economist poll also reported dips, with YouGov putting Trump’s approval at just 39%. But notice how the coverage buries the good news: Trump consistently outperforms on immigration, border enforcement, and law-and-order issues.
Where the Numbers Fall Short
The Marquette poll showed weaker marks on:
- Inflation (71% disapprove)
- Handling of Jeffrey Epstein revelations (72% disapprove)
- Foreign wars — 67% disapprove of his approach to Ukraine, 66% disapprove of his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict
These are the very issues the mainstream media hammers nonstop.
What This Means Going Forward
Even as pollsters attempt to paint Trump as weakened, his strength with conservatives remains clear. Border security, law and order, and defending America first still define his presidency. With Democrats overreaching on spending and foreign wars, Trump’s fight for sovereignty and safety remains his most powerful card heading into 2026 and beyond.
The Marquette poll surveyed 1,043 respondents from September 12–15, with a margin of error of 3.3%.
