Trump Tells UN The US Is Better At Everything, You Agree?

Trump Official Axes Another Policy

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is taking bold action to restore strength and merit-based standards to the U.S. military, announcing the permanent shutdown of a decades-old Pentagon committee accused of pushing a woke, radical feminist agenda instead of focusing on national defense.

The Pentagon revealed Tuesday that Hegseth will terminate the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) — a group created in 1951 that has recently come under fire for prioritizing progressive politics over battlefield readiness.

“Secretary Hegseth believes DACOWITS has drifted far from its original mission,” said Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson in a statement on X. “Instead of strengthening our armed forces, it has advanced a divisive feminist agenda that undermines combat effectiveness. His focus is on uniform, sex-neutral standards to ensure every warrior is held to the same expectations.”

Why Hegseth Took This Bold Step

Back in March, Hegseth launched a full-scale review of Pentagon advisory panels, temporarily halting all activity and removing every member while the review was underway.

The investigation, completed in May, recommended shutting down 14 separate committees, with DACOWITS topping the list. Democrats were quick to criticize the move, claiming it would harm recruitment and retention of women in the military.

Critics, however, say DACOWITS became a vehicle for progressive activism, pushing policies tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) — policies many conservatives believe weaken the military by focusing on identity politics instead of building the world’s most lethal fighting force.

What DACOWITS Was Created to Do

For decades, DACOWITS held quarterly meetings to address issues like body armor for female troops, maternity leave, and childcare access.

While these concerns seemed reasonable at first, Hegseth and his supporters argue that the group evolved into a political tool, promoting changes that lowered standards and diverted resources away from warfighting readiness.

Its official mission was to provide advice on recruitment, retention, and treatment of women in the armed forces, but its agenda shifted sharply in recent years.

Democrats Push Back

A group of Democratic lawmakers, including Sens. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), sent a May letter to Hegseth urging him to keep DACOWITS.

They boasted that 94% of the committee’s recommendations had been adopted by the Department of Defense and warned that shutting it down would reduce data collection on gender-based military policies.

However, critics argue that these “recommendations” often prioritized social engineering over combat readiness, with policies like gender quotas, lower fitness standards, and expanded DEI initiatives.

Hegseth’s Mission: End Woke Politics in the Ranks

Hegseth has been one of the loudest voices against woke culture in the military, consistently calling out policies that he believes erode discipline and readiness.

Unlike former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who protected DACOWITS during a 2021 review focused on DEI initiatives, Hegseth is committed to a merit-based military where warriors are judged solely on ability and performance.

By eliminating DACOWITS, Hegseth is sending a clear message:

The Pentagon’s mission is to fight and win wars — not wage culture battles.

Why This Matters for America’s Future

As threats from China, Russia, and rogue nations grow, Hegseth’s move to refocus the Pentagon on strength and readiness could play a vital role in keeping America safe.

While Democrats defend DEI policies, conservatives see this as a long-overdue correction, ensuring that taxpayer dollars go toward building the most powerful military on earth, not funding political activism.

Bottom Line

Pete Hegseth’s decision to shut down DACOWITS is a major win for conservatives who have long demanded an end to woke politics in the ranks.

This move represents a return to common-sense leadership: a fighting force built on toughness, skill, and unity — not progressive ideology.
