Justice must be unheld.

In a stunning twist that has conservatives cheering, the tables have turned on one of the key legal figures behind the Biden administration’s effort to take down President Donald Trump.

Jack Smith—the Justice Department’s former Special Counsel who led two politically explosive investigations against Trump—is now under official federal investigation himself.

According to internal documents obtained by The Post, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) has launched a formal inquiry into Smith’s conduct. The probe, led by OSC’s Hatch Act Unit, is examining whether Smith illegally used his government position to interfere in the 2024 presidential election.

Smith was appointed by Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland to pursue two now-dismissed cases against Trump—one over classified documents, and the other over the events of January 6th. But many conservatives say these legal moves were never about justice—they were about stopping Trump’s political comeback.

“Jack Smith’s actions were clearly intended to sabotage President Trump’s campaign,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. “This wasn’t law enforcement—it was election interference. He must be held accountable.”

The OSC’s investigation comes after Cotton sent a formal complaint demanding an ethics review. His letter accused Smith of weaponizing his authority to hurt Trump’s 2024 bid—specifically by rushing legal proceedings to collide with key GOP primary dates, including the Iowa caucuses.

“These were not standard legal actions,” Cotton wrote. “They were designed to manipulate the election calendar and sway public opinion. That’s not just unethical—it may be illegal under federal law.”

Smith resigned from the DOJ in January shortly after President Trump returned to office. He has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

🔎 The Bigger Picture: Is the Deep State Cracking?

Smith’s investigations were widely viewed by Republicans as part of a larger pattern of political abuse inside federal agencies under Joe Biden. Now, with Trump back in the White House and pushing to clean out what he calls the “deep state,” many believe Smith’s investigation could be the first of many.

“We saw a coordinated effort by Biden’s DOJ to smear and prosecute their political rival,” said one senior GOP strategist. “It failed. And now the people behind it are finally being exposed.”

⚖️ What Happens Next?

If the OSC finds that Smith violated the Hatch Act, he could face disciplinary action or even a lifetime ban from future federal employment. For many Trump supporters, that would be a long-overdue step toward restoring accountability in Washington.

With the investigation underway and the political tide turning, it’s clear: President Trump is no longer on defense—he’s going on offense.
