Democrats Unveil New Plan To Unseat RINO

The Maine Democratic Party has launched a politically charged website aimed squarely at longtime Republican Senator Susan Collins, blaming her for the rollback of federal abortion protections.

This new digital attack comes just days before the third anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s pivotal Dobbs v. Jackson ruling. That decision overturned Roe v. Wade and returned the power to regulate abortion back to individual states—a move widely praised by constitutional conservatives and supporters of religious liberty.

Video Campaign Blames Collins for Overturning Roe

A dramatic video featured on the website plays soundbites from Senator Collins’s 2018 Senate floor speech supporting Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation. The video claims her vote helped dismantle Roe, despite her original belief that Kavanaugh would respect precedent.

Democrats are hoping this will energize their base, particularly pro-abortion activists, ahead of the 2026 Senate race.

Party spokesman Tommy Garcia stated:

“The overturning of Roe vs. Wade falls squarely on Susan Collins’ shoulders.”

That narrative, however, ignores the constitutional reasoning behind the Supreme Court’s decision to let states—rather than unelected judges—decide their own abortion laws.

Senator Collins Responds: Voters Already Rejected These Attacks

Collins’s team quickly pushed back on the website and video, calling it a recycled smear from the 2020 campaign—one voters soundly rejected.

“This is déjà vu all over again,” said Collins campaign spokesman Shawn Roderick.
“Voters already saw through these false attacks and re-elected Senator Collins by nine points.”

The senator also noted that the Supreme Court’s final ruling was “inconsistent” with the private assurances given to her by both Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh—something that speaks more to the court’s shift than to her judgment.

Collins Opposed Radical Federal Abortion Bill

The website also slams Collins for voting against the Women’s Health Protection Act in 2022, a far-reaching Democrat bill that would have:

  • Overridden state-level parental notification laws
  • Legalized sex-selective abortions
  • Undermined religious conscience protections

Collins instead proposed her own bill—the Reproductive Choice Act—which aimed to codify Roe protections without trampling on parental rights or religious freedom.

Judicial Appointments Under Fire

Democrats are also attacking Collins for backing conservative judges who later upheld state abortion restrictions, including:

  • Stuart Kyle Duncan (Texas)
  • Kenneth Lee (Ninth Circuit)

But these judges were confirmed based on their legal credentials—not because of any political litmus test.

Looking Ahead to 2026: Will Voters Be Swayed?

Senator Collins has been a resilient figure in Maine politics, even as the state leaned left in 2024 by voting for Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite intense targeting, she won re-election in 2020 by more than eight points.

Democrats, still reeling from losing ground in the Senate, see abortion rights as a potential rallying cry in 2026. But so far, no major challenger has stepped up. Some speculate that Democratic Governor Janet Mills may consider entering the race.

Still, many older voters, religious conservatives, and independents continue to value Collins’s steady leadership, her defense of judicial independence, and her willingness to oppose sweeping federal overreach.

Bottom Line

As liberal groups prepare another round of attack ads and abortion messaging, it’s clear that Susan Collins remains a top target in a high-stakes midterm election cycle. But if 2020 was any indication, Mainers are not easily fooled by partisan fearmongering.

The fight for the soul of the Senate is heating up—again.
