Trump Team Launches New Probe
In a bold move to defend local schools, Education Secretary Linda McMahon has launched an official federal investigation into the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the Board of Regents. The probe comes after state officials threatened to pull funding from the Massapequa School District for refusing to abandon its historic Native American mascot, the “Chiefs.”
President Trump Stands With Massapequa
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump spoke out strongly in support of the community.
“Forcing them to change the name after all these years is not only ridiculous — it’s an insult to our great Native American population,” Trump declared in a Truth Social post. “The School Board and nearly everyone in the community want the Chiefs name to stay.”
The Massapequa Chiefs have been a proud symbol of local tradition for generations. But under new radical mandates, New York bureaucrats are demanding schools erase anything tied to Native American heritage — or else lose critical funding.
Federal Civil Rights Complaint Filed
The Native American Guardians Association (NAGA) submitted a civil rights complaint to the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, alleging that the New York State Education Department (NYSED) violated federal law by discriminating against Massapequa’s cultural heritage.
Education Secretary McMahon made it clear that the Biden-era leadership in New York was crossing a line.
“The U.S. Department of Education will not sit quietly while New York officials try to erase history,” McMahon said. “Instead of focusing on real education, they’re forcing schools to waste precious time and resources fighting woke agendas.”
McMahon also pointed out the glaring double standard: while teams like the Minnesota Vikings and Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish celebrate heritage, New York officials are singling out Native American traditions for cancellation.
Trump: ‘What’s Wrong With Chiefs?’
President Trump questioned why Massapequa should be forced to give up a name that honors strength, courage, and history.
“It has become the school’s identity,” Trump wrote. “You don’t see the Kansas City Chiefs changing their name anytime soon!”
State Officials on Defense
A spokesperson for NYSED admitted the state hasn’t received any formal notification about the investigation but still attempted to accuse McMahon of interfering with state policies — an ironic twist, given their own aggressive intrusion into local schools.
New York officials claimed Massapequa had already lost a lawsuit over the mascot issue. But the school board remains defiant. After losing in state court, the district directly appealed to the Trump administration for help.
Local Leaders Thank President Trump
Massapequa Board of Education President Kerry Watcher expressed deep gratitude to President Trump and Secretary McMahon for defending the community.
“The state’s effort to erase our traditions doesn’t help students — it only divides and distracts,” Watcher said. “We thank the Trump administration for standing with us.”
While some left-wing activists claim mascots are offensive, many Native American groups argue they honor history and should be preserved — not erased.
The Battle Over America’s Heritage Continues
Massapequa’s fight is now part of a much larger battle against the radical left’s relentless push to rewrite American history and tear down local traditions. Patriots across the nation are watching closely as President Trump and his team work to protect what matters most: our heritage, our schools, and our future.
