Buttigieg refuses to stop attacking Trump.

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently lambasted President Trump’s address to Congress, claiming it was full of flashy rhetoric but lacked meaningful content addressing the issues that matter most to Americans. In an appearance on CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Buttigieg said, “It was typical Trump—lots of dramatic flair and focus on dark, divisive issues, but not much about the real struggles of everyday Americans.”

According to Buttigieg, the affordability crisis—one of the top concerns for Americans—was barely mentioned in the speech. “Politics is about improving people’s everyday lives,” he argued. “But the affordability of life, from rising prices to stagnant wages, wasn’t given the attention it deserves.” This, he said, was a missed opportunity to directly address the economic challenges facing working families.

The former Democratic presidential candidate also criticized the president for not mentioning his “tax cuts for the rich,” which Buttigieg claimed was a major priority for Trump’s agenda. He suggested that Trump’s speeches often ignore real solutions in favor of distractions, pointing out that the president frequently focuses on divisive or irrelevant issues like Greenland or cultural debates, rather than addressing the economic needs of the American people.

Trump’s speech, which marked his first major address to Congress in his second term, was met with mixed reactions. Supporters hailed it as uplifting and hopeful, while his critics, including Buttigieg, decried it as a partisan spectacle that failed to address the nation’s real problems.

Buttigieg, reflecting on the state of the union, said, “The country is in turmoil. The divisions are widening, and instead of healing those rifts, the president is fueling them. The American people are frustrated. They’re tired of political games. They want solutions to everyday problems, like the rising cost of living.”
