This is very very concerning.
In response to President Donald Trump’s decision to impose additional tariffs on Chinese imports, Beijing has made it clear that it is prepared to engage in any type of confrontation with the United States, including a full-scale trade war. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian issued a firm statement, asserting that China would not back down.
“If the U.S. wants war, whether it’s a trade war, a tariff war, or any other kind of war, we’re ready to fight until the end,” Lin said during a press briefing. His remarks come as Trump has escalated tensions by implementing tariffs of up to 20% on Chinese goods, a move aimed at countering China’s unfair trade practices and economic manipulation. Lin also urged the U.S. to abandon its “domineering” approach and return to a path of dialogue and cooperation.
China’s response to these tariffs reflects its defiance against what it sees as U.S. bullying. Lin emphasized that the pressure and threats from the U.S. would not deter China. “Intimidation will not scare us, and coercion will not work,” he said, rejecting any notion that China could be intimidated into concessions. In fact, the Chinese government retaliated with its own set of tariffs, imposing a 15% tariff on American agricultural exports, a direct response to the tariffs on Chinese goods.
This clash over tariffs is part of a broader effort by President Trump to address critical issues, including the fentanyl crisis. As Chinese-made fentanyl continues to flood the U.S. via Mexican drug cartels, the Trump administration is using tariffs as leverage to push China into taking more responsibility in combating the drug trade. Trump has raised the stakes by applying tariffs on both Mexico and China, demanding these nations step up efforts to curb the flow of illicit drugs into America.
As tensions rise, it’s clear that the Trump administration is taking a strong stance against China’s unfair trade practices and its role in exacerbating America’s drug epidemic. In this battle, America must remain steadfast and prioritize its own interests, ensuring that China understands it cannot dictate the terms of engagement.
Its a shame that all the countries that we saved in WW2 hate us. Should have let Japan take them over.
