GOP Confident In Trump’s Russia Plan
Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) expressed confidence in President Trump’s ability to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, urging the American people to “trust the process” as the negotiations unfold.
Mullin emphasized the critical need for a diplomatic solution, pointing out that lives are being lost daily due to the ongoing conflict. He believes that with President Trump’s exceptional skills as a negotiator, there is hope for a resolution. “We have the best negotiator in the White House right now,” Mullin stated during his appearance on ABC News’s This Week. “President Trump literally wrote ‘The Art of the Deal’—he knows how to get deals done.”
According to Mullin, if the American people remain patient and allow Trump to work through the diplomatic process, peace can be achieved. The Senator’s remarks come after Trump’s phone calls with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. While Trump’s decision to speak with Putin first sparked some controversy, Mullin defended the approach. Trump described his call with Putin as “lengthy and highly productive,” underscoring that the discussions about potential cooperation were moving forward.
Mullin praised Trump’s careful handling of the situation, stressing the importance of avoiding rushed decisions. “Sometimes, if you bring people to the table too quickly, it can blow up,” Mullin explained. “They might walk away, and that could set the talks back for months.”
The Russian government has not yet made any official commitments regarding the negotiations but has acknowledged the U.S. as a key counterpart in any future ceasefire discussions. Mullin’s comments underscore his belief that Trump’s approach is both pragmatic and calculated, and he urged Americans to stay hopeful about the potential for peace.
