Ramaswamy Resigns From DOGE?
Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy announced on Monday that he would no longer be serving on President Trump’s new “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) commission. With Ramaswamy stepping aside, Tesla CEO Elon Musk will now lead the advisory group on his own.
Ramaswamy explained that he was proud to have contributed to the creation of DOGE, but his decision to step down was driven by his plans to run for office in Ohio. As a result, he could no longer remain a part of the commission due to its structure, which would not allow him to participate while pursuing a political campaign. While he won’t be directly involved in DOGE moving forward, Ramaswamy expressed confidence that Musk and the rest of the team would succeed in their mission to streamline government operations. He also emphasized his continued commitment to helping President Trump make America great again.
A spokesperson for DOGE acknowledged Ramaswamy’s vital role in helping to establish the commission, thanking him for his efforts over the past two months. Despite his departure, the spokesperson made it clear that Ramaswamy’s contributions were highly valued, and he would remain an important ally in the broader push to reduce wasteful government spending.
Ramaswamy and Musk had been co-chairs of DOGE since it was first announced, with Trump tapping them both to lead an effort aimed at cutting unnecessary federal jobs and eliminating wasteful spending. However, as Ramaswamy prepares for his potential run for Ohio governor, questions arose about his continued involvement in the project.
Musk, who remains at the helm of DOGE, has pledged to work tirelessly on the initiative.
