Ocasio-Cortez Laughs At Trump’s Advice
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) took to social media to respond to a comment made by President-elect Donald Trump following her defeat in the race for chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. After losing the vote to Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), Ocasio-Cortez posted a remark on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You know it’s bad when even Trump is feeling bad for me.”
Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social, offering words of encouragement to Ocasio-Cortez after her loss. “Really too bad that AOC lost the Battle for the Leadership Seat in the Democrat Party. She should keep trying. Someday, she will be successful!” Trump wrote, offering a mixture of sympathy and sarcasm.
The outcome of the vote was hardly surprising. Connolly, who has been a member of the committee for over a decade, defeated Ocasio-Cortez by a clear margin. The Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, led by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), had already recommended Connolly for the role, and he had the backing of high-ranking Democrats, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
Ocasio-Cortez’s loss highlights a deeper issue within the Democratic Party. Despite her calls for a “new generation” of leadership, senior party members continue to dominate key positions. Democrats have largely stuck with their established figures for critical House committees, underscoring the party’s preference for experience over the “fresh” leadership that Ocasio-Cortez advocates.
Ocasio-Cortez’s vocal opposition to Trump is well known, and she has regularly warned of the dangers a Trump presidency could pose, especially regarding individual freedoms. Yet, it’s worth noting that the same progressive agenda she champions is increasingly being sidelined within her own party as veteran Democrats solidify their hold on power. In this contest for leadership, Ocasio-Cortez’s defeat reflects the broader challenges facing the left as it grapples with generational change and internal divisions.
Wake the hell up! This is yet another DEMOCOMMUNIST “tactic” to get infighting started (hat the democommunist are so good at) Stay the course, and ignore the media “pundits” and corrupt democommunists, that will say ans do ANYTHING to retain their stolen power and control.
