CNN Confesses, Trump Is Innocent?
Who would’ve expected this?
On Thursday, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper expressed that he would have serious doubts about the credibility of former lawyer Michael Cohen’s testimony if he were serving on the jury.
During a discussion with CNN legal analyst Elie Honig, Cooper reflected on a key moment in Cohen’s cross-examination where Cohen seemed to be caught in a lie by Trump’s lawyer.
Cooper commented that this moment significantly undermined Cohen’s reliability, particularly regarding his claims about a phone call to Trump.
The discussion centered on Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche’s asking of Cohen, who claimed that he had paid adult film star Stormy Daniels at Trump’s behest to cover up an alleged affair. Cohen had testified earlier in the week that he called Trump’s past bodyguard, Keith Schiller, on October 24, 2016, to discuss the payment to Daniels.
However, Blanche produced text message records from just before the call, showing Cohen had contacted Schiller about a 14-year-old prankster bothering him. These messages showed that Schiller replied, asking Cohen to call him. Under further questioning, Cohen admitted that part of the call concerned the prankster but maintained that Schiller was with Trump at the time.
During this exchange, Trump’s lawyer accused Cohen of lying, a point that Cooper seemed to agree with. Cooper noted that the significance of this moment was clear to everyone in the courtroom, with reporters reacting noticeably.
Cooper reflected that, if he were a juror, this would make him think Cohen was inventing parts of his story as he went along, or at least this particular aspect. This highlighted the impact of the moment on Cohen’s overall credibility in the case.
