Biden’s White House Confesses, Border Collapse

During his campaign for the presidency, Joe Biden expressed his stance on the issue of migrants seeking asylum, stating that if he were elected, there should be a swift response at the border.

According to Newsmax, during the first Democratic primary debate for the 2020 election, President Biden outlined his plans, saying, “As president, I would take several actions, including ensuring an immediate response at the border for all those individuals seeking asylum.”

In the midst of this, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released their operational statistics for August, which set new records. CBP reported a total of 181,059 encounters between ports of entry along the Southwest border, with a monthly total of 232,972 encounters.

Despite President Biden’s directive, CBP remains committed to combatting the activities of smugglers and criminal organizations who exploit migrants and engage in the trafficking of dangerous drugs, which poses a significant threat to our communities.

Troy A. Miller, the senior official performing the duties of the commissioner at CBP, stated in a media release, “CBP continues to be vigilant in the face of ruthless smugglers and transnational criminal organizations who take advantage of vulnerable migrants, the same criminal entities responsible for trafficking lethal drugs that harm our communities. Our operational efforts along the border have been intensified in response to increased encounters, and we remain steadfast in our broader mission of enhancing security and enforcing U.S. immigration laws.”

Among the 232,972 encounters along the Southwest border in August, 11% involved individuals who had at least one prior encounter within the previous 12 months.

In April 2023, when the Title 42 public health order was still in place, repeat encounters accounted for 23% of all encounters.

In August 2023, CBP encountered a total of 164,911 unique individuals along the Southwest border.

Additionally, CBP reported an 11% one-year reencounter rate among the 232,972 Southwest border encounters, a decrease from the 35% rate observed in August 2022 and lower than the 14% average from 2014-2019.

During August, CBP apprehended over 91,000 migrants who entered the U.S. as family groups, setting a new record high. This surpassed the previous monthly record of 84,486 arrests in May 2019 during the Trump administration, as per preliminary figures reviewed by The Washington Post.

CBP also reported an increase in fentanyl seizures from July to August. By August, CBP had confiscated over 25,500 pounds of fentanyl, a significant rise from the 12,800 pounds seized during the same period in 2022. This marks an increase of over 800% in fentanyl seizures since fiscal year 2019, and fiscal year 2023 has already exceeded the total seizures of fiscal year 2022.
