President Donald Trump’s unexpected return from Camp David turned heads Saturday night — and it wasn’t just the change in his schedule getting attention.
When Trump arrived back at the White House aboard Marine One, he was accompanied by two well-known names from professional golf: Gary Player and Bryson DeChambeau.
But another person traveling with the group quickly became part of the story.
Mikayla Demaiter, a former Canadian hockey goaltender who has since built a large following as a model and social media personality, was also seen arriving with DeChambeau. The New York Post reported that Demaiter is DeChambeau’s girlfriend.
The unusual collection of guests came as Trump unexpectedly returned to Washington earlier than originally scheduled, raising questions about why the president’s weekend at Camp David had been cut short.
Trump Returns From Camp David Early
Trump had been expected to remain at Camp David until Sunday night but returned to the White House on Saturday instead, according to multiple reports. No official reason for the schedule change had been publicly announced.
That lack of explanation immediately generated interest because the president’s early return came during continuing security concerns in the Middle East.
The timing does not establish that those developments caused Trump to change his plans, however, and there has been no public confirmation tying the two events together.
That distinction is important.

Individual countries in the region have also been subject to elevated U.S. travel advisories.
For example, the State Department’s September 15 advisory urged Americans to reconsider travel to Saudi Arabia because of risks that include armed conflict, terrorism and potential Iranian drone or missile attacks on American interests.
Again, there has been no official confirmation that any of those concerns were responsible for Trump leaving Camp David earlier than planned.
Bryson DeChambeau Has Golfed With Trump Before
DeChambeau’s presence alongside Trump is considerably less mysterious.
The two-time U.S. Open winner has previously spent time on the golf course with the president.
In July 2024, DeChambeau released a golf video featuring Trump as part of his popular charity-oriented “Break 50” series. The appearance attracted widespread attention online.
Trump himself has maintained a highly visible connection to golf for decades, including ownership of golf properties in the United States and abroad.
That makes seeing professional golfers in the president’s company far from unusual.
Golf Legend Gary Player Was Also There
Joining Trump and DeChambeau was legendary golfer Gary Player.
Player, 90, is one of golf’s most accomplished international stars and has known Trump for years. His presence added another major name from the sport to the president’s Camp David gathering.
Player’s professional career stretches back decades, making him one of the most recognizable figures in golf history, particularly among longtime fans of the game.
For Americans who have followed professional golf since the 1960s and 1970s, Player remains an instantly familiar name.
Who Is Mikayla Demaiter?
Demaiter, 26, comes from a much different background.
The Canadian previously played goaltender in women’s hockey before leaving the sport and developing a career in modeling and social media.
She has accumulated millions of followers online and had previously been seen with DeChambeau around LIV Golf events, including an appearance connected to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.
Her appearance alongside DeChambeau during the return from Camp David consequently attracted attention beyond political and golf circles.
Photos From Marine One Spark Interest
Photographs from the Saturday evening return showed members of the group after Marine One arrived near the White House.
DeChambeau was photographed traveling with Trump, while DeChambeau and Demaiter were also seen after getting off the presidential helicopter.
The images offered a rare glimpse of the president’s guests following a private weekend visit to Camp David, the presidential retreat located in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains.
Camp David has been used by presidents for decades for everything from relaxation and private meetings to major diplomatic negotiations.

The presence of Player, DeChambeau and Demaiter may explain some of the activity surrounding Trump’s weekend, but it does not answer the biggest question:
