Trump’s DHS Deports How Many
The Department of Homeland Security released new numbers Wednesday showing a stunning 2.5 million people have left the United States since January—marking one of the most aggressive immigration enforcement periods in American history.
According to DHS data, more than 605,000 deportations have been conducted since President Donald Trump returned to the White House on Jan. 20. Officials say the administration’s top priority is removing individuals with serious criminal records and restoring long-promised border security.
Trump’s Enforcement Surge Delivers Immediate Results
The agency credited President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for directing ICE and CBP to carry out targeted operations against criminal offenders and repeat violators. DHS says these actions are producing rapid changes in communities nationwide.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said illegal immigrants are now getting the message loud and clear.
“Since January 20, DHS has arrested more than 595,000 illegal aliens,” McLaughlin said. “They understand that if they refuse to leave, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will not return.”
DHS noted that cities are already seeing reduced strain on public services, lower taxpayer burdens, and shifts in job availability as the illegal immigrant population declines.
DHS Launches New Flight Program to Speed Up Deportations
In a major upgrade to its enforcement capabilities, DHS has purchased a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft to directly transport illegal immigrants out of the country. For years, the agency relied heavily on costly charter services.
Now, under President Trump’s expanded border authority, DHS will operate its own planes—a move made possible after Congress approved $170 billion in new border and immigration funding as part of the GOP tax package.
This dedicated fleet is expected to accelerate removals, cut operational costs, and increase the number of weekly deportation flights.
New Tools Help Illegal Immigrants Self-Depart Faster
DHS also highlighted its CBP Home app, which allows individuals to arrange departure assistance and transportation. Officials say the app is helping reduce overcrowding at federal facilities and streamlining voluntary departures.
ICE’s most recent update emphasizes that removing non-U.S. citizens who are in the country illegally remains one of the agency’s core missions and will continue throughout Trump’s second term.
Bottom Line
With millions already gone and hundreds of thousands more being processed, the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown is reshaping the nation at a historic pace. The combination of enforcement operations, new technology, and DHS-owned aircraft has created the most assertive deportation system the country has ever seen.
