Trump MAGA Calls Out Newsom’s Spouse
As rumors continue swirling around a possible 2028 presidential run by Gavin Newsom, the spotlight is now shifting toward his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, after several resurfaced video clips triggered outrage among conservatives online.
The videos, which have spread rapidly across social media, feature Siebel Newsom discussing progressive parenting ideas and gender-related topics that many critics say perfectly reflect how far California politics has moved to the left.
One clip shows her explaining why she prefers the title “California’s first partner” instead of “first lady.” Other videos include comments about giving dolls to her sons and changing male storybook characters into female ones while reading to her children.
For many conservatives, the clips reinforced concerns about the cultural direction pushed by California’s political elite.
“The Newsoms are the perfect example of why people are fed up with California,” Republican National Committee regional communications director Nick Poche told Politico.
The backlash intensified after Donald Trump Jr. reposted another video involving Siebel Newsom discussing a tragic childhood accident during a speech at San Quentin prison. In the speech, she recalled accidentally striking her younger sister with a golf cart years ago.
Trump Jr. reacted to the clip on X with disbelief, writing that the story sounded impossible to make up.
Harmeet Dhillon also shared the video, adding her own stunned reaction online as criticism continued to grow.
According to Politico, advisers close to the Newsom family say they are alarmed by the increasingly personal nature of the attacks. One aide reportedly argued that Gov. Newsom has not targeted the family members of President Donald Trump, including former first lady Melania Trump.
“Some of these attacks are very low,” a Newsom adviser reportedly said while accusing online MAGA critics of escalating the rhetoric.
A spokesperson for Jennifer Siebel Newsom also pushed back strongly, claiming conservatives were attempting to distract from larger political issues by focusing on her comments and public appearances.
Still, Republicans argue the controversy highlights a broader cultural divide that could become a major issue if Gavin Newsom launches a national campaign. Conservatives have increasingly portrayed California as a warning sign for the rest of the country, pointing to rising costs, crime concerns, homelessness, and progressive social policies.
Political observers note that attacks on candidates’ spouses can sometimes backfire. Michael LaRosa, who previously worked for former first lady Jill Biden, warned that personal attacks often generate sympathy for political families instead of damaging them.
Even so, the growing attention surrounding the Newsom family suggests Republicans already see Gavin Newsom as a serious potential contender for 2028 — and conservatives appear eager to define him long before the next presidential race officially begins.
