Trump Targets Indiana
Former President Donald Trump is turning up the pressure on Indiana’s Republican leadership, sharply criticizing several state senators for rejecting a redistricting plan that he says could secure two additional GOP seats in Congress and help protect the House majority in 2026.
Trump’s message came in a series of posts on Truth Social, where he said he was “very disappointed” in state Senate Republicans — especially Senate leaders Rod Bray and Greg Goode — for refusing to support a map that strengthens Republican representation in a reliably conservative state.
“Because of these politically correct ‘gentlemen,’ they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House — a VERY big deal,” Trump wrote.
Trump Highlights Double Standard: Democrats Redistrict Aggressively, Republicans Hold Back
In his comments, Trump pointed out that Democrats have spent years redrawing political maps to maximize their power — often pushing the boundaries of legality — while Republicans in red states sometimes hesitate to use the same tools.
California’s recent Prop 50 vote, which undercuts its so-called “independent” redistricting commission, serves as a prime example of how Democrats use every advantage to reshape congressional districts.
Despite having millions of Republican voters, California now holds just 17% GOP representation in Congress, a number far below the actual voter balance in the state.
Trump contrasted this with what he described as weak leadership in certain Republican states:
“California is trying to pick up five seats, and no one is complaining,”
Trump said. “Weak Republicans are why we end up with damaging policies that hurt our country.”
Indiana Gov. Mike Braun Also Draws Trump’s Criticism
Trump didn’t limit his frustration to the state Senate. Indiana Gov. Mike Braun, a Republican, also received criticism for what Trump characterized as a lack of urgency on redistricting.
Trump reminded voters that Braun rose to the governor’s office with strong support from Trump’s America First base:
“Mike wouldn’t be governor without me — not even close,” Trump wrote.
“It’s disappointing he’s not working harder to secure the votes we need.”
Trump Calls for Primary Challenges Against Republicans Who Resist Redistricting
In a firm warning to Indiana lawmakers, Trump encouraged primary challenges against any Republican who refuses to support the proposed redistricting plan.
“Any Republican that votes against this important redistricting should be PRIMARIED,” Trump declared. “Indiana is full of smart, patriotic Americans who want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
He added that he will soon release more names of GOP lawmakers who are blocking the restructuring effort:
“Do your job — and do it now. If not, let’s get them out of office ASAP.”

States like California have reshaped congressional maps to maximize Democrat gains — while some Republicans hesitate.
✔ Indiana is a deep-red state
Republicans have an opportunity to lock in long-term congressional strength… if lawmakers are willing to act.
