Trump’s Warning To DC Mayor

Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump sent a late-night message to Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser, warning that the federal government may extend its takeover of D.C. law enforcement if city officials continue releasing what he called “false and highly inaccurate” crime statistics.

Trump: “D.C. Is Safe Again”

“Washington, D.C. is SAFE AGAIN! The crowds are coming back, the spirit is high, and our D.C. National Guard and Police are doing a fantastic job. They are out in force, and are NOT PLAYING GAMES!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social shortly after midnight.

Trump highlighted a rare achievement, noting that for the first time in recent memory, Washington went an entire week without a single murder.

DOJ Launches Probe Into “Fake Numbers”

The Department of Justice announced this week that it has opened an investigation into the city’s crime data after widespread concerns that D.C. Democrats manipulated numbers to downplay violence. The probe is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C., which earlier claimed violent crime had dropped to a 30-year low.

Trump blasted those statistics as a “dangerous lie” and delivered a blunt message to Mayor Bowser: she must stop releasing false crime data or face the prospect of a full federal takeover of the capital. He vowed, “Washington, D.C. will soon be great again.”

Federal Action Already Producing Results

On Thursday night, Trump visited federal law enforcement at a U.S. Park Police center in Anacostia, praising the men and women who have helped reclaim the city: “It’s like a different place, a different city,” Trump said. “Right now, it’s better than it has been in years, and in a couple of weeks, it’s going to be far better.”

Since Trump authorized the DOJ takeover of the Metropolitan Police and deployed the National Guard earlier this month, more than 630 arrests have been made—including 250 illegal migrants. The White House says the operation has already saved countless lives.

Local Pushback, But Trump Stands Firm

Some D.C. officials have pushed back against Trump’s law-and-order crackdown, but under the Home Rule Act, an extension of the federal takeover would require Congressional approval.

Trump has signaled he is prepared to go all the way, arguing that Democrat leaders in Washington have failed their citizens for too long.

“We’re going to make Washington, D.C. safe, strong, and great again—whether the Democrats like it or not,” Trump told supporters.
