Senate Democrats Flip On AOC And Bernie Sanders
Slotkin distances herself from AOC, Bernie Sanders, and the far-left’s anti-Trump noise
Tension is growing inside the Democratic Party, and now even moderate members are speaking out. Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin (D) has openly criticized far-left politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), saying their constant attacks on President Trump amount to little more than noise.
At a fiery town hall event, Slotkin told constituents that she represents a swing state, not a deep-blue district. That means she can’t follow the same playbook as the radicals in her party.
“I can’t do what AOC does,” Slotkin said. “Everyone you mentioned has a lot of words, but what have they actually done to change the situation with Donald Trump?”
Progressive Agenda vs. Real-World Concerns
While Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez continue to campaign on what they call a “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, middle-of-the-road Democrats like Slotkin are feeling the heat from their own voters.
At the core of the debate? A Republican-led funding bill aimed at avoiding a government shutdown. The bill, which cuts $13 billion from non-defense programs, was supported by Senate Democrats including Chuck Schumer (D-NY), but it enraged the far-left.
Ocasio-Cortez blasted her own party for backing the measure, calling it a “huge slap in the face.” Meanwhile, activists have stormed town halls demanding more aggressive action against Trump and even Elon Musk, who has become a frequent target of left-wing ire.
What Has the Far Left Actually Accomplished?
That’s the question Slotkin—and many everyday Americans—are asking. Despite years of fiery speeches, social media outbursts, and constant media coverage, the radical left has little to show in terms of actual policy wins when it comes to opposing Trump.
Slotkin emphasized that being practical and results-driven matters more than “making noise for headlines.” Her position reflects a growing divide between common-sense Democrats in swing states and the louder, more extreme voices from solid-blue districts.
Sanders Pushes for Far-Left Takeover
Sen. Bernie Sanders has taken things a step further. He recently told The New York Times that if the Democratic Party doesn’t fully embrace his progressive movement, independent candidates may begin running across the country.
“If there’s any hope for the Democratic Party, it’s to open the doors to working-class people,” Sanders said.
That may sound good to left-wing activists, but to many Americans, it signals a dangerous shift—one that could push the party even further from the values of hard-working, patriotic citizens.
The Bottom Line: A Party at War With Itself
What we’re seeing is a Democratic Party in disarray. While moderates try to hold the line in battleground states, the far-left continues to push a radical agenda, even at the expense of their own party’s unity.
This kind of infighting matters—not just for 2024, but for the future of America. Voters across the country are watching closely. And many are asking: Who’s really fighting for everyday Americans—and who’s just putting on a show?
