In a strong move to restore integrity, President Donald J. Trump has officially removed multiple Biden-era appointees — including former second gentleman Doug Emhoff — from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, the governing body overseeing the nation’s Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.
Doug Emhoff, husband to former Vice President Kamala Harris, confirmed Tuesday he was informed of his removal. In a statement, Emhoff complained about the decision, warning against politicizing Holocaust remembrance. However, many conservatives argue it was the Biden administration that politicized sacred institutions, stacking federal boards with left-wing loyalists rather than focusing on true remembrance and education.
Emhoff, who was an outspoken critic of President Trump during the 2024 election campaign, had been appointed by President Biden. Under the previous administration, he focused heavily on progressive causes, often making headlines that drew criticism from traditional Americans who value keeping history free from partisan agendas.
A White House official confirmed that several Biden allies were removed, with the Trump administration now conducting interviews for replacements committed to true historical preservation, not political theater. Among those reportedly dismissed: former Biden Chief of Staff Ron Klain, ex-domestic policy adviser Susan Rice, and senior Jill Biden adviser Anthony Bernal.
According to reports, an email from the White House Presidential Personnel Office notified council members on Tuesday:
“On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position… is terminated, effective immediately.”
This decisive action echoes President Trump’s earlier efforts to reclaim cultural institutions, like when he removed Biden holdovers from the Kennedy Center Board earlier this year — a move praised by patriotic Americans nationwide.
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum has yet to comment. However, with over 50 presidential appointees on the council, the changes signal a major shift toward restoring American values, honoring true history, and rejecting the radical agendas that plagued the nation’s most sacred institutions under Biden.
