Trump Reaches New Trade Negotiation
President Trump’s bold America First agenda is once again making waves, as Swiss Confederation President Karin Keller-Sutter announced Thursday that the United States is planning “privileged” trade negotiations with 15 countries, including Switzerland.
This new effort comes as part of President Trump’s ongoing fight to protect American jobs and strengthen the U.S. economy against unfair global practices.
Switzerland Among Priority Nations for Fresh Trade Agreements
During her visit to Washington, Keller-Sutter confirmed that Switzerland is one of the countries selected for these important talks. While details on other nations remain limited, according to The Associated Press, the move signals a major push to realign trade in favor of hardworking Americans.
In an interview aired Friday by Swiss broadcaster SRF, Keller-Sutter described the talks as “somewhat privileged” and aimed at finding practical, lasting solutions.
“I am satisfied with the discussions we had in Washington,” she said, after meeting privately with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and went to the International Monetary Fund’s meetings.
Drafting a Strong Framework for U.S.-Swiss Trade
Keller-Sutter explained that both countries agreed to draft a Letter of Intent, highlighting key priorities and assigning dedicated representatives to keep negotiations moving forward.
“Our talks focused on major economic issues and new opportunities to deepen collaboration between Switzerland and the United States,” Keller-Sutter noted.
This comes at a critical time, as President Trump continues to push for fair trade deals that truly benefit the American worker.
Trump Stands Strong on Tariffs to Protect the U.S. Economy
Recently, President Trump took decisive action by announcing tariffs on nearly all foreign imports, including a 31% tax on Swiss goods. This bold move is designed to shield American industries and families from global market instability.
In a show of strategic leadership, Trump temporarily suspended most country-specific tariffs for 90 days, leaving a 10% baseline tariff in place to ensure the U.S. maintains leverage during negotiations.
A Swift Path Forward for Stronger Trade
Keller-Sutter stated that American officials had made it clear they are eager to reach an agreement with Switzerland. She emphasized that both nations are acting swiftly, warning that “uncertainty is toxic for the economy.”
Her remarks highlight how strong, stable leadership from President Trump is paving the way for fairer trade that benefits American businesses, workers, and families.
With trade talks accelerating, the Trump administration remains committed to putting America first — ensuring that our economy stays strong, our jobs are protected, and our future is secure.
