Mainstream Media Trashes Trump

The Wall Street Journal is sounding the alarm after federal agents raided the Maryland home of President Trump’s former National Security Adviser John Bolton, blasting the move as nothing short of political revenge.

The raid, carried out Friday morning, was officially tied to allegations that Bolton mishandled classified records at his Bethesda residence. But the Journal argued the search looks less like law enforcement and more like retaliation against one of President Trump’s most vocal critics.

“It’s hard to see the raid as anything other than vindictive,” the Journal’s op-ed said, noting Bolton’s public falling out with President Trump during his first term and his controversial tell-all book released in 2020.

Trump’s Long Feud with Bolton

President Trump clashed with Bolton after the former adviser began openly criticizing his foreign policy decisions. Bolton’s book—released while Trump was still in office—sparked outrage in the White House. Trump attempted to block its publication, claiming it contained sensitive information. Yet the manuscript had already undergone an extensive national security review.

The Journal suggested the raid is just the latest blow, pointing to Trump’s earlier decision to strip Bolton of his Secret Service detail. Agents even seized Bolton’s wife’s phone during the Friday search, raising more questions about whether the operation was about national security or political payback.

Vice President Vance Responds

Vice President JD Vance strongly rejected claims of political motivation, telling MSNBC that unlike the Biden-era DOJ and FBI, Trump’s Justice Department is committed to law and order—not weaponized politics.

“If Ambassador Bolton broke the law, prosecutions will follow. But these decisions will be based on facts, not revenge,” Vance said.

President Trump also told reporters he was not briefed on the raid ahead of time and emphasized that Attorney General Pam Bondi is handling the investigation independently.

Trump vs. the Media

The raid comes just weeks after President Trump launched a lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal over what he called a defamatory story. Trump blasted the outlet for publishing “smear pieces” while ignoring the Biden family’s scandals.

For many conservatives, this fight highlights a larger pattern: the same media outlets that go soft on Democrats continue to target Trump with relentless attacks—no matter the facts.

Why This Story Matters

  • Media Bias on Full Display: The Journal itself admits the raid looks like political vengeance.
  • Bolton’s Public Attacks Backfire: Years of bashing Trump may have brought Bolton under scrutiny.
  • Contrast with Biden’s DOJ: Conservatives point to the difference in how Trump vs. Biden handle law enforcement.
