Trump Cut From Iconic Film?
It’s been more than 30 years since Home Alone 2: Lost in New York became a holiday favorite. But one moment from the 1992 classic continues to stir up controversy—thanks to a brief, now-legendary cameo by businessman and 45th President Donald J. Trump.
A 7-Second Scene That Still Has Hollywood Talking
In the film, young Kevin McCallister—played by child star Macaulay Culkin—gets lost in New York and winds up at the Plaza Hotel. During a quick moment in the hotel lobby, he bumps into Donald Trump, who owned the Plaza at the time.
Though the appearance lasts just seven seconds, it’s become one of the film’s most memorable scenes—and one that has only grown more iconic since Trump entered politics.
Director Calls Trump Cameo a “Curse”
Recently, director Chris Columbus revisited the cameo in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, calling it “a curse” he wishes he could remove from the movie. That comment quickly drew attention, particularly among conservative viewers who see Trump’s brief role as a harmless—and even historic—part of movie history.
Back in 2023, Columbus told Business Insider that Trump only allowed filming at the Plaza Hotel if he was included in the movie. “We paid the fee,” Columbus said, “but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie.’ So we agreed.”
Columbus claimed Trump “bullied his way in.” But many Americans see it differently—as smart negotiation and classic Trump business acumen.
Trump Responds on Truth Social
President Trump, never one to shy away from setting the record straight, responded on his social platform, Truth Social. He wrote:
“I was very busy and didn’t want to do it. They were very nice but above all, persistent. The cameo took off like a rocket and the movie was a big success. It was great for the movie!”
That’s hard to argue with. Home Alone 2 went on to gross over $173 million worldwide and remains a staple of family entertainment to this day.
Hollywood’s Continued Bias Against Trump
While millions of Americans continue to enjoy the film each holiday season, the liberal media and Hollywood insiders seem determined to erase Trump from cultural memory—even from a Christmas classic enjoyed by generations.
Even Culkin has chimed in, joking on social media that Trump should be digitally replaced by an older version of himself. While some may find it amusing, it’s another example of Hollywood’s growing disconnect from the values of mainstream Americans.
Why It Still Matters Today
This isn’t just about a movie cameo. It’s about how cultural institutions treat those who stand up for American values.
President Trump’s appearance in Home Alone 2 is a symbol of success, confidence, and American entrepreneurship. It’s no surprise that Hollywood elites want to downplay it—because they know millions of people still admire it.
