Democrats Refuse To Come To Texas Table

Austin, TX — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is taking decisive legal action against Democrat lawmakers who abandoned their posts and fled the Lone Star State in a desperate attempt to derail the Republican-led legislative agenda.

On Friday, Paxton filed a lawsuit to vacate the seats of 13 House Democrats who joined more than 50 others in skipping town earlier this week. Their goal: block a vote on key bills — including the Republican-backed redrawing of congressional maps — by denying the Texas Legislature the quorum it needs to act.

These lawmakers have been spotted hiding out in left-leaning states like California, New York, and Illinois instead of doing the jobs they were elected to do. Republican leaders say the stunt is wasting taxpayer money, stalling urgent reforms, and disrespecting the will of Texas voters.

Texas State Rep. Jeff Leach told Newsmax that the Democrats’ move is “just delaying the inevitable.”

“We have nearly 20 major priorities that Texans are counting on us to deliver — from securing the border to protecting election integrity,” Leach said on The Count. “The longer Democrats hide, the longer Texans have to wait. My message is clear: Come back to work and do your job.”

Fellow GOP Rep. Hillary Hickland blasted the left’s increasingly hostile rhetoric, pointing to Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s shocking comments comparing President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

“It’s extreme and dangerous,” Hickland said. “This is exactly the kind of reckless rhetoric that fuels division. Words matter. Everything we’re doing is legal and within our authority — and we will not be intimidated.”

Paxton’s lawsuit could set a powerful precedent, holding runaway lawmakers accountable and ensuring future legislatures can’t be hijacked by political walkouts. With border security, tax relief, and pro-business reforms on the line, Republicans say Texas voters deserve a legislature that shows up to work — not one that runs away.
