Trump’s Response To Russia Gains Support

Former National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz says President Donald Trump acted with decisive strength after dangerous nuclear threats were made by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Speaking on Newsmax’s Sunday Report, Fleitz said Trump’s response—sending U.S. nuclear submarines into Russian waters—was not only justified, but essential.

“Medvedev, essentially Putin’s deputy, made reckless threats suggesting Russia could use nuclear weapons against America,” Fleitz warned. “That’s not just unacceptable—it’s a red line.”

According to Fleitz, Trump’s powerful move stands in sharp contrast to the weak foreign policy stances of past administrations.

“Trump is no paper tiger,” he said. “He’s restoring deterrence—something Biden and Obama failed to do. This sends a message to Moscow: the United States will not be intimidated.”

Fleitz said Trump’s leadership is rooted in peace through strength—a strategy designed to keep America safe while offering adversaries a way out.

“Trump is telling Putin to rein in Medvedev’s dangerous rhetoric,” he continued. “There is a path forward for Russia—but only if they choose diplomacy over aggression.”

Despite the aggressive posturing from Moscow, Fleitz noted that President Trump has made repeated offers to help broker peace in Ukraine.

“President Trump has extended generous peace proposals,” Fleitz said. “But Putin hasn’t budged. He may fear that admitting defeat would cost him power.”

Still, Fleitz believes that Trump’s deal-making skills could ultimately resolve the crisis—though it won’t be easy.

“Ending complex wars like this can take years, but Trump has what it takes,” he said. “Unlike Biden, Trump understands the balance between pressure and negotiation.”

Trump is also reportedly preparing to impose crippling sanctions on Russian oil exports if Putin refuses to engage.

“The Russian economy is in serious trouble,” Fleitz stated. “Trump is turning up the heat—maximum economic pressure, backed by diplomatic strength. It’s a strategy that could force Putin’s hand and pull Russia away from its dangerous alliance with Communist China.”
