Trump Doubles Down On Portland

President Donald Trump is taking decisive action to restore order in Portland, Oregon — a city many Americans now see as a symbol of chaos, violence, and failed Democrat leadership.

Trump: “We Had No Choice”

On Wednesday, Trump explained his decision to deploy Oregon’s National Guard after months of unrest, crime, and violent demonstrations.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Oregon’s governor is “living in fantasy land,” arguing that Portland has become a constant disaster where innocent people have been injured and even lost their lives, comparing the city’s decline to conditions in a Third World nation.

Trump emphasized, “As patriots, we have no option but to act. Law and order must be restored in our cities and across this nation.”

200 National Guard Troops Authorized

The Department of Defense approved the deployment of 200 members of Oregon’s National Guard to Portland. The move comes after Trump vowed to protect not only the city but also a targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, which has been attacked repeatedly by left-wing activists.

Democrat Governor Pushes Back

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek (D) blasted the decision, calling it “an abuse of power” and even joined demonstrators in downtown Portland. She insisted, “We don’t need military intervention here,” despite growing concerns from families and business owners who say the city has become unsafe.

Critics argue that liberal politicians are more interested in siding with protesters than protecting law-abiding citizens. By resisting Trump’s plan, Kotek has further fueled the debate over whether Democrats truly stand for public safety.

Portland’s Ongoing Violence

Protests linked to ICE enforcement have already led to 26 federal charges since June, including one case involving an incendiary device. Law enforcement officers have been assaulted, and federal property has been vandalized.

While no deaths have been reported in 2025, Portland’s reputation for lawlessness has grown worse under progressive leadership. Many residents say they no longer feel safe walking downtown at night.

Trump’s Law-and-Order Message

For President Trump, the issue is simple: America cannot allow its cities to collapse into lawless zones controlled by radical activists. The deployment of the National Guard, he argues, is a necessary step to protect families, businesses, and the rule of law.

“Law and Order isn’t optional,” Trump has emphasized. “It’s the foundation of a safe and free America.”
