Trump Says NFL's 'Redskins' Name Isn't Racist, You Agree?

Top Republican Taunts Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Conservative Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) is standing his ground as President Trump’s political machine targets him for removal — and he’s warning Republicans that the campaign could blow up in their faces.

In a bold interview Tuesday, Massie said the GOP establishment is wasting time and money trying to silence independent voices like his.

“They’ve spent $1.8 billion trying to defeat me in my district,” he told NBC News. “It’s had very little effect. This is about whether the executive branch now controls Congress — and I think the American people are watching.”

Trump Strikes Back Against “RINO” Republican

President Trump took to Truth Social Monday night, slamming Massie as “the worst Republican Congressman” and “an embarrassment to Kentucky.” He accused the libertarian-leaning lawmaker of obstructing the MAGA agenda at every turn.

“Lazy, slow-moving, disingenuous — a real loser,” Trump wrote. “We’re looking for a strong America-First conservative to primary this guy. Someone I can endorse and campaign hard for.”

The statement came just hours after the MAGA Kentucky PAC launched a scathing ad campaign calling for Massie’s ouster.

Massie Warns: GOP Risks Losing the House in 2026

Massie, who voted against President Trump’s “big, beautiful” spending package and opposed military action against Iranian targets, claims the real danger isn’t his candidacy — it’s the message being sent to conservative voters.

“This effort will backfire tremendously,” Massie said. “They’re wasting millions trying to take me out, and it may cost Republicans the House majority in 2026.”

He added that many GOP lawmakers secretly support his position but fear Trump’s political power.

“Some of them say, ‘Massie, if you survive your primary, we’ll finally be free to vote with our conscience.’”

Speaker Johnson Distances Himself from Massie

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), caught in the middle of the intra-party feud, offered only a lukewarm response when asked about Massie’s latest moves — including his push for transparency on files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Bless his heart,” Johnson said with a strained smile. “Some members just enjoy making life harder for their own team.”

Johnson later added, “I don’t know how Thomas Massie thinks. He creates a lot of headaches.”

Conservative Movement at a Crossroads

This battle between Trump’s America First agenda and libertarian holdouts like Massie underscores the growing divide within the Republican Party.

For grassroots conservatives and older voters, the message is clear: Will the GOP unite behind Trump’s leadership, or fracture under internal pressure?

As Trump continues to reshape the Republican Party in his image, Kentucky could become ground zero for the next major fight in the conservative movement.
