Trump Planning Another $12 Billion Cut?
The Trump administration is taking aim at another mountain of wasteful spending — this time targeting $12 billion in Biden-era “clean energy” projects that critics say burned through cash while delivering little for taxpayers.
According to a list obtained by Reuters, federal officials are reviewing plans to cancel billions in Congressionally-approved funding for unproven climate programs, including two massive “direct air capture” carbon projects funded under Joe Biden’s Department of Energy. One of those projects involves Occidental Petroleum, a corporate partner that reaped huge benefits during Biden’s push for so-called “green innovation.”
Insiders call it the “kill list” — a sweeping rollback of what President Trump’s team views as bloated, ineffective climate spending that lined the pockets of consultants and favored industries.
Just last week, the Department of Energy moved to terminate $7.56 billion in additional green projects that, according to the agency, failed to provide a meaningful return to taxpayers.
White House Budget Director Russell Vought said the latest cuts are part of a broader cleanup of Biden’s reckless spending spree. In a post on X, he confirmed that nearly $8 billion in climate-related funds spread across 16 Democrat-run states — including California, New York, and Illinois — will be shut down immediately.
“We’re done funding green fantasy projects that waste your money,” Vought wrote. “President Trump is restoring fiscal sanity and putting hardworking Americans first.”
The Trump administration has made clear that the goal isn’t to abandon innovation — it’s to stop the gravy train for politically connected industries that have failed to deliver results. Under President Trump, Washington is finally prioritizing real energy independence, lower costs, and accountability to taxpayers over globalist climate schemes.
For years, the Biden administration poured billions into “climate solutions” that enriched contractors but did nothing to lower gas prices, secure the grid, or create jobs for American workers. Trump’s new energy plan puts an end to that — redirecting America’s focus toward oil, natural gas, nuclear power, and real American strength.
