Speaker Johnson Drops Another Hint
More Tax Relief and Spending Cuts Are on the Way
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) confirmed Thursday that President Donald Trump’s sweeping new legislation is just the start of a bold, multi-phase strategy to restore America’s fiscal health and rein in Washington’s out-of-control spending.
“This is the first of five major steps to get our nation back on solid fiscal ground,” Johnson said during a Fox News appearance. “The reconciliation bill passed today was a big, giant leap forward — but there’s more coming.”
What’s Next? More Conservative Budget Wins Ahead
According to Johnson, additional legislation is already in the works. A second reconciliation package is expected this fall, followed by a third in the spring — all part of a larger plan covering the next two federal budget cycles.
“We’re also rolling out rescission packages with the White House to claw back wasteful spending from prior years,” he said. “We’re going to appropriate at lower levels and hold the line on reckless government growth.”
Tax Cuts, Fiscal Responsibility, and Trump’s Vision for America
The GOP-led bill includes major tax breaks, including new deductions for seniors and working families, and sets the stage for historic spending reform. President Trump is expected to sign the bill into law Friday, turning it into a defining accomplishment of his second term.
“President Trump is fully committed to restoring fiscal responsibility,” Johnson added. “The Republican Party is the party of common sense economics, and we are finally putting taxpayers first.”
Experts: Trump’s Plan Could Reshape the U.S. Economy
Economic analysts say the bill’s combination of lower taxes and reduced federal spending could create long-term growth, especially for retirees and small business owners. The plan also signals a dramatic departure from the high-spending policies of the Biden era.
With inflation still squeezing family budgets and national debt on the rise, many see this legislation as a long-overdue correction — and a clear signal that the Trump administration is serious about draining the swamp once and for all.
