Trump Creates New Task Force
President Trump has made a significant move by establishing a FIFA 2026 World Cup Task Force, following an executive order issued last Friday. As part of the plan, 104 matches will be played across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico—making this the first World Cup in over two decades to be co-hosted by multiple nations.
Though the three countries are currently embroiled in a trade conflict, President Trump sees this tension as an asset. In a press conference at the White House, he remarked, “Tension is a good thing. It makes everything more exciting.” He also expressed a desire to attend some of the games himself.
The World Cup Task Force will be led by President Trump himself, with Vice President Vance serving as vice chair. Key figures from various federal agencies, including State, Treasury, Defense, Transportation, Homeland Security, and Commerce, will be involved, as well as the Attorney General. Trump will also appoint an executive director to manage the daily operations of the event.
While the U.S., Canada, and Mexico continue to navigate economic challenges, the World Cup is expected to have a major positive impact. The event will create approximately 40,000 jobs and attract around 450,000 visitors to host cities. The total economic benefit could reach up to $480 million, according to estimates from the White House.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who attended the signing ceremony, also revealed that the 2026 World Cup would include a halftime show for the first time in history. Global superstar Coldplay will help select artists for this historic performance, making the event even more memorable.
The final match will take place in New York City, with the celebration extending to Times Square—one of the most iconic locations in the world. This World Cup promises to be a major event, showcasing America’s strength and unity on the global stage.
